A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the electronic equivalent of a physical signature — a legally valid, secure digital identity issued by a government-licensed Certifying Authority (CA). DSC is mandatory for filing company documents with MCA, GST returns, income tax returns (for companies), e-tenders, and court filings.
Critical: A DSC is issued to a specific individual — it cannot be shared or used by anyone other than the registered holder. Use of another person's DSC for MCA, income tax, or e-tender filings is a criminal offence under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Keep your DSC USB token physically secure and never share your PIN.
Standard for all government filings
Class 3 DSC is now the only type issued for individuals and organizations. It provides the highest level of assurance — identity is verified against government databases (Aadhaar/PAN). Used for MCA, GST, income tax, e-tenders, and court filings.
For companies and LLPs
Organization DSC is issued in the name of the company/LLP — used for official company filings on MCA21. The certificate shows the company name alongside the director's name for authentication.
For import-export filings
DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) requires a specific DGFT-enabled DSC for IEC registration and DGFT portal filings. Standard commercial DSCs do not work on the DGFT portal.
Valid for 1 or 2 years
DSC validity is 1 or 2 years from the issue date. We track expiry dates and renew DSCs before they lapse — ensuring no disruption to critical MCA or GST filing workflows.
DSC is required for all regular government digital filings and e-tendering.
All directors of Private Limited and Public Limited Companies must have DSC for MCA21 filing — including annual returns, financial statements, and changes in company particulars.
DSC is required for GST registration (for companies) and for signing key GST documents — refund applications, letter of undertaking (LUT), and some amendment filings.
Companies must file income tax returns with DSC authentication. Auditors must also authenticate audit reports digitally — making DSC essential for CA practice as well.
All government e-tender portals (GePNIC, CPP Portal, state portals) require DSC for tender submission. Without valid DSC, technical bid submission is not possible.
DSC is the authentication layer that makes digital government interaction legally valid.
DSC-authenticated documents are legally equivalent to physically signed documents under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Courts and authorities accept DSC-signed filings as authentic.
All MCA21 filings — annual returns, board resolutions, director appointments, charge creation — require DSC authentication. Without DSC, a company cannot file any statutory document with MCA.
DSC-authenticated filings are processed faster by government portals — as identity is automatically verified. Physical document submissions take 2–4x longer than digital submissions.
India's government procurement is almost entirely digital. DSC is the mandatory authentication tool for participating in any Central, State, PSU, or defence tender — without it, you are excluded from this market.
DSC is stored on an encrypted USB token — making it extremely difficult to forge or misuse. Each signing operation requires physical access to the token and a PIN — ensuring the signer is authentic.
A single Class 3 DSC works across MCA21, income tax portal, GST portal, e-tender portals, and eCourts — reducing the administrative complexity of managing multiple authentication credentials.

Get Expert HelpDetermine whether you need Individual Class 3 DSC (for MCA, GST, IT filings) or Organization DSC (for company-level filings) or DGFT DSC (for import-export). Each has different application requirements.
Choose a licensed CA — eMudhra, NIC, Sify, Capricorn, or CDAC. We work with multiple CAs to ensure the fastest turnaround and best pricing.
Fill the DSC application form online with personal and business details. Provide identity and address proof for verification.
For Class 3 DSC, identity is verified through a video-based KYC (VKYC) process — the applicant appears on camera with identity documents for real-time verification by the CA.
Pay the DSC issuance fee — typically ₹1,000–₹3,000 for a 2-year Class 3 DSC including the USB token. DGFT DSC is slightly more expensive.
The USB token (crypto dongle) with the DSC is dispatched to the registered address. Install the driver software, configure the token, and test on the relevant portal before the first filing.
Documents required depend on whether the DSC is for an individual or an organization.
PAN card of the individual applicant — the primary identity document for DSC issuance.
Aadhaar card for Aadhaar-based e-KYC — linked to an active mobile for OTP verification.
Recent color photograph — for VKYC verification and application records.
Never share your DSC USB token or PIN with anyone — including colleagues. A DSC signature is legally equivalent to your personal signature. Unauthorized use of your DSC to sign documents creates serious personal legal liability.
DSC setup and secure storage practices protect you from unauthorized use.
Install the USB token driver from the CA website. Test the DSC on the relevant portals — MCA21, income tax, GST — before the first actual filing deadline.
Associate the DSC with your DIN (Director Identification Number) on the MCA21 portal. This one-time registration enables DSC authentication for all future MCA filings.
DSC validity is 1–2 years. Set a calendar reminder 60 days before expiry to apply for renewal — an expired DSC means you cannot file any pending statutory documents until the new DSC is issued.
A DSC is tied to one individual — using someone else's for a filing is a criminal offence under the IT Act. We issue and manage your certificate securely, so every filing is authenticated correctly.
Every DSC issued strictly to its registered holder, with proper identity verification handled for you.
Class 3 certificates issued quickly so your MCA, GST, or e-tender filings are never delayed.
One certificate configured correctly for MCA filings, income tax, GST and e-tenders alike.
Expiry tracked and renewal handled ahead of time so your signing capability never lapses mid-filing.
